My Glowing Green Smoothie

Now that we’re halfway through February, some of us may have already given up on our New Year’s Resolutions.  I have just the ticket to spark some motivation to keep eating healthy!

My favorite habit that I picked up in 2011 is Kimberly Snyder’s Glowing Green Smoothie from her book The Beauty Detox Solution.  Clearly, based on my blog… I’m not the best “blossoming beauty” that I could be.  But these smoothies help keep me on track.  They’ve replaced my triple soy latte in the morning, and I have more energy than I can shake a stick at!  If you need more reasons to try these green smoothies, read this blog post by Zoe V.

Refreshing and Hydrating Strawberry Watermelon and Cucumber Smoothie

For my dad’s birthday today we went sailing and on the ride back to the house, I was craving Dr. Pepper like it was the answer to my prayers.  Instead of heading for a drive-thru to get a small soda pop, I went home and created a thirst quenching, hydrating and healthy smoothie.  I used what I happened to have in my fridge: frozen strawberries, watermelon and cucumber.

Healthy and Delicious Smoothies

I’ve finally come out of my cave to greet the world…or at least my kitchen.  Last Friday I volunteered myself for a tonsilectomy and have survived off of smoothies and water for the past five days.  The worst part about it is I torture myself by spending my days watching Chef Roble marathons and the Food Network.  Bobby Flay’s Barbeque Addiction has me chomping at the bit to get outdoors and barbeque.  Seriously, I really want to build a woodfire oven in my backyard, too.  My experience is similar to prison, except instead of carving tallies of the days on the wall, I’ve started a journal of everything I’m dying to cook and bake.  Oh dear, I hope I don’t miss out on all of the delicious food my mom will be cooking on Chinese New Year.  That’s got to be bad luck or something.

So about these healthy and delicious smoothies.  In the real world, when I don’t dread taking a sip of water, these smoothies are some of my favorite healthy breakfasts and desserts.  I bust these out when I need a healthy but sweet treat.  Check out my favorite Berry Banana Smoothie.
